The best part about sunny California is that you are near the water most of the times. It has been a good coastal drive so far – vast stretches of rocky coastline, sea lions and seals cozying up at the shores, magnificent sunsets and just pure bliss. Our next stop was the beautiful town of Monterey. Guess what we did here? The aquarium, 6th largest in the world, located at the Monterrey bay lush with beautiful marine life – sharks, sea otters, penguins, jellyfish and numerous other native marine species. In the middle is a 28-foot high tank, which can be viewed both from above and below. Followed by an early dinner and ice cream at the Cannery Row, the bayside walk lined with restaurants, shops and small boutiques. This place was once lined with sardine canning factories, hence the name. A lot of otters can be seen in their natural habitat around this town. Early morning, we headed to Moss Landing Harbor and could see the beautiful cuddly creatures just floating and enjoying in the ice cold water. Back to route 1 and back on the road, it’s amazing how much you can see in a single day. No wonder I love to be on the road!
