We got delayed and because of our initial flight being late, we lost almost a complete day. With half a day in Portland, we decided to make the most of it and go to Silver Falls State Park, and it was a beauty!

The magic of the redwoods is unreal. It is intimidating not just to be walking amongst giants, but also knowing they are centuries older than you. A surreal and unforgettable experience.
California Route 1 is one of the best scenic drives and by far, is one of my favorites. The drive itself has winding roads, almost always staying by the water with some sharp cliff edges sometimes, strong winds and the fun of driving amongst mist and clouds.
Route 1 is one of the best scenic drives and by far, is one of my favorites. My ideal drive begins on California route 1 at San Diego, start by soaking in the delicious sun and then move on to LA, San Francisco, followed by a stop at San Simeon to see the beautiful Hearst Castle and the bay. Be prepared to stop at various points including the Big Sur for breathtaking coastal views and beaches filled with lazy seals cuddling together. Then drive further up towards Monterey and make a stop there for the beautiful town, water and the magnificent aquarium. Who can miss the redwoods and the charm of the overwhelming, tall trees followed by a final stop at Portland, Oregon – one of the most beautiful states full of waterfalls and breathtaking beauty.
I wish I could: Spend more time at each stop and drive all the way up to towards Seattle Total days: 10 (could be more depending on where you want to spend more time) Tip: Car rentals often charge a lot more when pick-up and drop-off points are different so look for weekly deals. One way flights may cost more, so plan ahead and be flexible for your flight destination (like consider a flight to Burbank rather than LA and consider driving to the destination from there)
Stay tuned for detailed posts about the trip.
Love Tiptoes! Let me clarify, we had no time to stop at Denver, we just had to reach there to catch our flight back. The real deal was San Juan Skyway – a scenic Colorado road traversing the heart of the San Juan Mountains. No wonder it's called the “Switzerland of US”!
