This was indeed one of the best sights of the trip. And not being professional photographers, we struggled with how to capture the best views of the scenic Colorado river making a 270° horseshoe bend at this meander. Also be ready to walk up about ¾ miles of an uphill sandy path to reach the viewing point. You will also notice that the rock has diagonal striped layers. These are the remnants of the layers of the ancient massive sand dunes before they were petrified into stone. Be ready to face the dizzying height to see the view. We saw multiple photographers with their equipment trying to shoot it from various angles. You will need a wide-angle lens for sure to get the entire scene in your picture, at one of the most photographed locations in the world! Love
