TipToes!
The route from Death Valley to Grand Canyon is a long 379 mile drive, so we decided that an early morning stop at Hoover Dam would help with some crowd relief. It is a perfect stop to make to view the magnificent concrete structure, 660 ft (200 m) thick at the bottom, narrowing to 45 ft (14 m) at the top. It is in an arch shaped engineering marvel and a beautiful sight from the viewing bridge. The parking was free, but it gets crowded during the day time. There are two viewing spots – one from Nevada and the other across the border from Arizona. A huge clock-tower also shows you the time for both states. Lake Mead, the largest reservoir by volume in the United States could be seen from the Arizona side. A good start to a long journey ahead. Tell me about your experiences, would be so glad to read them!
